Dueling Budgets

Listen

Hour 1

Guests: Michael Tanner and Jared Bernstein

Last week House Republicans and Senate Democrats unveiled their competing budget plans. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s proposal aims to balance the budget in a decade by cutting $4.6 trillion through the elimination of the Obama health care law, entitlement cuts and a Medicare overhaul.  It also cuts corporate and individual taxes. The Senate Democrats plan, led by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, calls for only $1 trillion in cuts and raises $1 trillion from closing tax loopholes and hikes on corporations and wealthy Americans.  This hour, dueling budgets and finding common ground. Marty talks with MICHAEL TANNER, senior fellow with the Cato Institute and JARED BERNSTEIN, senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
