Dueling Budgets
ListenHour 1
Guests: Michael Tanner and Jared Bernstein
Last week House Republicans and Senate Democrats unveiled their competing budget plans. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s proposal aims to balance the budget in a decade by cutting $4.6 trillion through the elimination of the Obama health care law, entitlement cuts and a Medicare overhaul. It also cuts corporate and individual taxes. The Senate Democrats plan, led by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, calls for only $1 trillion in cuts and raises $1 trillion from closing tax loopholes and hikes on corporations and wealthy Americans. This hour, dueling budgets and finding common ground.
