Guests: Senator Chris Coons, Dave Davies and Dick Polman

Nice, France suffered a devastating attack yesterday, Bastille Day, a day for country-wide celebration. While people were enjoying a fireworks celebration in Nice, a man plowed through the crowd in an explosive-laden truck, killing 84 people before he was shot by police. We’ll get reaction from SENATOR CHRIS COONS of Delaware. While there is still much we don’t know, we’ll discuss why so many attacks have occurred in France, how the US should respond, and whether or not we should rethink how we combat terrorism.

What many thought laughable a year ago has come to fruition. Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, and next week he’ll take the stage at the Republican National Convention to declare his vision for his general election campaign and the country. He’ll also have to try his best to unite a fractured GOP, amidst what has amounted to be one of the most tumultuous and surprising election seasons in recent history. In this hour of Radio Times, Marty speaks with DAVE DAVIES and DICK POLMAN, WHYY’s senior reporter and NewsWorks’ national political columnist, respectively, about next week’s Republican National Convention that will be held in Cleveland. The pair will be traveling to the RNC to cover the event, and will discuss what we can expect in terms of speakers, politicking, and what announcements Donald Trump might make while there. We’ll also be checking in with them regularly during the convention.
