Astronomy Night – Not just for the White House anymore

In collaboration with tonight’s White House Star Party, Philadelphia is sponsoring an observing event this evening at Thomas Paine Plaza for everyone who wants to get a great look at the moon, stars, and other objects of the night sky. And if night time is not the right time – the pre-dawn sky affords the opportunity to see Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Mercury still seemingly clumped together.

Thursday marks the 4,151st anniversary of the first record of a solar eclipse – in 2136 BCE across Central China.
