Amazon in Philly? / The Suffrage Movement

Listen 00:49:55

Guests: Angela Dodson, Will Bunch, Adam Ozimek

Abigail Adam’s once admonished her husband John Adams, in a letter from 1776, to “remember the ladies,” as he and members of the Continental Congress as they began writing the laws of the new nation. Author ANGELA DODSON takes the title of her new book on women’s suffrage from Adam’s letter. We start out this hour, talking with Dodson about, Remember the Ladies and the long struggle for women’s right to vote in the United States.   Then, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney is courting Amazon to make Philadelphia home to their 2nd headquarters. Would this bring a much-needed economic boom to the city, or would an influx of new high-paid residents drive up the cost of living for the residents? We’ll be joined by Philadelphia Daily News columnist, WILL BUNCH, and by Moody’s senior economist, ADAM OZIMEK.
