A Conversation with Novelist Richard Ford

Listen

Guest: Richard Ford

[From the Radio Times archive] Much to the joy of his many fans, RICHARD FORD has brought his fictional character Frank Bascombe back to life. Frank, the narrator of three of Ford’s previous novels is an “everyman” kind of guy – now a 68-year old retired sports writer and real estate agent living in suburban New Jersey and recovering from prostate cancer. Set during the days before Christmas 2012, after Hurricane Sandy and the re-election of Barack Obama, Ford’s newest book is Let Me Be Frank With You. It’s a collection of four short stories about Frank and centers on the themes of aging, loss, and decay. Marty welcomed Richard Ford back to Radio Times to talk about this newest book and his career and personal life last fall.
