Deconstructing the work cubicle

Listen

Hour 2

Do you work in a cubicle? If you do than you may know what it’s like to endure the smell of a co-worker’s stinky food, overhear a personal phone call or be interrupted by someone peeking over the divider. In this hour of Radio Times we’ll discuss cubicle culture and take a look at some of the dos and don’ts of working in a cube, the pros and cons of the design and whether or not they promote worker productivity and camaraderie. Joining us to talk about all things cubicle are JAMES F. THOMPSON, workplace culture expert and author of “The Cubicle Survival Guide” and contributing writer to TheOfficeProfessional.com; JOHN GOINS, Research Specialist of U.C. Berkeley’s Center for the Built Environment; and MIKE TSCHUDY, Vice President of Product Design Group at SAP Cloud, who recently opened a cubicle-free office building in California.
