Year in odd New Jersey news: Pork roll lawsuits, Elf on Shelf 911 call

A lawsuit against a pork roll company for flatulence, bears swimming in a backyard pool and a girl calling 911 because she accidentally touched her Elf on the Shelf are among the oddest stories from New Jersey this past year.

Louann Clem said in a lawsuit filed in September against Case Pork Roll Co. that her husband was fired for passing too much gas in the office after gastric bypass surgery. The owner denied that.

In August, a Rockaway Township man posted a video online showing a mama bear and her five cubs climbing into his family’s above-ground pool.

And this month, a 7-year-old Old Bridge girl called 911 because she had touched her elf and was worried that the magic of Christmas had gone away.
