Woman robbed by group at Wilmington Riverfront

A 56-year-old woman was knocked to the ground and robbed along the Wilmington Riverfront Monday night.

The incident happened not far from the Wilmington Riverfront’s new hotel that’s attached to the Chase Center. 

According to Wilmington police, the woman was walking in the area when a group of young people approached her and asked what time it was. As she was checking the time, two members of the group knocked her to the ground and took her cell phone as she tried to dial 911.

The woman suffered injuries to her elbow and hand.

After getting a description of the suspects from the victim, police located a 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, both from Wilmington, in the area of 5th and Colman St. The two are facing charges including robbery, conspiracy and malicious interference with emergency communication.
