Wire problem that delayed morning commute to N.Y. resolved
Attention commuters:
A wire problem is causing delays on NJ Transit trains into and out of New York City.
Update, 1 p.m. The problem has been resolved and trains are running on or close to schedule.
An NJ Transit spokesman says a train carrying about 500 passengers became stuck in the tunnel heading into New York at about 5:40 a.m. when an overhead wire malfunctioned.
The train was in the process of being moved by a little after 6 a.m. Trains were being delayed up to 30 minutes as a result. Train tickets are being cross-honored on NJ Transit buses and PATH trains.
NJ Transit’s Midtown Direct trains are being diverted into Hoboken.
