William Penn, DVRPC want you to name those trails

Seeking to drum up support for the burgeoning network of trails in the region, the William Penn Foundation and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission have announced a contest to come up with a name for it.

The name is meant to foster the sense of a unified network of trails from South Jersey to the far reaches of Chester County — though it’s also supposed to respect the existing identities of popular individual trails, like the Schuylkill River Trail.

The winner gets $250, and submissions are due midnight Dec. 16.

The William Penn Foundation has made the expansion of the Philadelphia region’s trails a priority, working with DVRPC to give $10 million worth of grants to address specific needs in the system.

Details on how to enter a submission can be found here.
