Weekly Wednesday farmers market brings a taste of the country to downtown Wilmington

The weekly Wednesday farmers market brings a taste of the country to downtown Wilmington starting today.

More than 40 vendors will bring fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, plants and handcrafted items such as jewelry, pottery and items for the home and garden.  The farmers market will be held on Rodney Square each Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., rain or shine.  Hot dogs, pizza, baked goods and other tasty treats are also available.  The farmers market is a joint venture involving the City of Wilmington, Downtown Visions and the Delaware Department of Agriculture.   A variety of music and entertainment will also be offered.  According to Market Manager Tucker Casey, “Public markets also offer budding entrepreneurs an opportunity for a viable location in which to sell their products or services. Healthy communities need vibrant public spaces and we hope that the Farmers’ Market can do its part in creating such an atmosphere.”
