University of Delaware seeks funding help from alumni

Patrick Harker had a favor to ask Saturday of University of Delaware alumni. The university president addressed more than 2,000 graduates over the weekend, and in doing so, asked for their financial help.

The weekend celebration netted more than $700,000 from seven graduated classes, but Harker said the university is doing all it can now to ensure the financial gap doesn’t grow.

Alumni donated $41.1 million last year — a 30 percent increase over 2009, according to the Wilmington News Journal. But some projects, like the law school, have been sidelined as the purse strings were tightened.
