Atlantic City casino hotel goes to the dogs

We know you’ve been holding your breath, so here you go:

Showboat Casino Hotel is the first in Atlantic City to open its doors to dogs, reports the AP.

Nine rooms are set aside under the Pet Stay program, which Showboat’s parent company has operated at eight Las Vegas casino hotels.

Guests pay an extra $40 a night to bring their dogs, which are allowed in the hotel and lobby. Canines are prohibited from the casino floor, restaurants, bars, spas and shops.

The dogs receive treats, food, water bowls, a sleeping mat and a special “relief area” by the valet parking section.

Phyllis Pette of Manhattan checked in Thursday with her Maltese. She told The Press of Atlantic City she never thought the day would ever come.
