A fast moving fire in a Wilmington row home killed a three year old and a three month old Tuesday afternoon.

The fire started at the home on Monroe St. just before 4 p.m.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I report the loss of 2 precious lives this evening,” said Wilmington Fire Chief Anthony Goode in a post on Twitter. “It was heartbreaking delivering the news to family.”

The girl’s mother is in critical but stable condition. Another daughter, a two-year-old was treated at the ER and released. The girl’s father and four other children in the family were not home at the time of the fire.
