Three arrested in connection with drug ring on Drexel’s campus

What began with the arrest of two Drexel University students earlier this month ended overnight with the arrest of three men accused of operating a drug ring around campus.

Raphael Zappala and Joshua Dassay of Philadelphia, and Wesley Crawford of Ardmore are charged with delivery, possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy, use of a communication device to facilitate a narcotics transaction and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the District Attorney’s office, the three ran the ring for more than a year, earning up to $15,000 a week. Police raided a property on the 4800-block of Florence Street overnight, where they found $28,000 worth of LSD and $10,000 in cash.

The investigation began when a Drexel student arrested in Upper Moreland tipped police off to the ring and agreed to cooperate with authorities.
