Temple University Hospital CEO steps down, interim replacement is named

    A health care consultant from a Chicago-based firm has been named the interim CEO of Temple University Hospital after it was announced today current President and CEO Sandy Gomberg will step down.

    Temple University Health System CEO Dr. Larry R. Kaiser tells the Philadelphia Business Journal Gomberg is a “steadfast advocate for the provision of quality care to all patients.”

    Gomberg has been the hospital’s CEO for the last three years, which included last year’s net loss of $6.8 million and the four-week nurse’s strike in April 2010.

    Kaiser also Temple’s effort to “improve current operating performance and to position Temple to be a leader in the transformation of the evolving health-care environment,” is already underway.
