Teen swimmer missing off the coast of Ocean City, N.J.
The Coast Guard and other emergency crews are searching for a 14-year-old boy who was swept out to sea by an undercurrent while swimming with friends off Ocean City, N.J.
The boy was reported missing shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday after everyone except the teen made it back to shore. More than 2 ½ hours later, a 25-foot Coast Guard boat, a Coast Guard helicopter and crews from the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit and the Ocean City Fire Department are still searching for the boy, who is wearing white swimming trunks.
WCAU-TV reports that the Ocean City Beach Patrol has recovered six to eight people who were swimming with the teen near the 9th Street Beach when they ran into a rip current.
