Teacher of the Year snafu at Ocean City High School

Henry Bender’s wife loves him so much she wanted him to be Teacher of the Year at Ocean City High School. So Karen Bender, also a teacher there, encouraged others to vote for her husband. She herself voted for him.

That vote won Henry the title — briefly.

After the selection committee realized what the missus had done, the Press of Atlantic City reports, a new committee was formed and Mr. Bender was out.

So, Ocean City High School’s Teacher of the Year is Andrew Breckenridge. He teaches physics, which probably means he hears a lot of grumbling from students.

As for the grumblings from the Benders, he said: “Honestly, I don’t want to comment on the whole deal. It’s ridiculous.”
