New Castle County

Thanksgiving Weekend at Hagley, November 25th – 27th

Bring your family and out-of-town guests to enjoy activities, crafts, and games. Sample historic holiday dishes inspired by 19th century recipes from “The Hagley Cookbook,” play hide-the-thimble and other parlor games, and dress up in 19th century clothes for a picture-perfect memory. Included in admission and free for members. Use Hagley’s main entrance off Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware. Hagley Museum and Library, Wilmington.

 

Peace, Love & Poetry, December 1st

“A Soul Opera…telling stories of love & life through songs and poetry!” Local and regional artist perform dramatic stories of love and life using a unique blend of poetry and songs backed by a live band and DJ. Hosted by SuiteFranchon. Featuring the Best Kept Soul Band. World Cafe Live at the Queen, Wilmington.

Dover Symphony Orchestra Holiday Family Concert “Ringing in the Holiday Season at Dover Downs”, November 27th

“Ringing in the Holiday Season” features a wide array of seasonal music. A special feature of this concert will be the performance of “Peter and the Wolf,” a symphonic tale for children. It will be narrated by Betty May Hamilton, long-time supporter and advocate for the DSO. Join us for a special treat for your entire family. Displays of the work of a number of Central Delaware Artists and Artisans will open at 1:30. Start your holiday shopping here. Sweet treats will be available at our Bake Sale. Valet parking will be offered at $5.00. Admission prices are Adults–$20, Seniors/Students/Military–$15. Young people under 18 are free with a paying adult. Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

 

Capital Holiday Celebration, December 1st

Caroling with local school children, Dover High School Select Ensemble, local dignitaries & more! Tree lighting ceremony in front of Dover City Hall with Mayor Robin Christiansen. A visit from Santa. Nutcracker Ballet performances in the Reading Circle in front of the Dover Public Library. Children’s craft area in the Dover Public Library. Carriage rides on Loockerman Street. Free hot chocolate & cookies. Living nativity in front of Wesley United Methodist Church. Canned food drive to benefit local food pantries. City of Dover.

Jingle All The Way, November 26th

While autumn leaves fall, the Capital Ringers are tuning-up once again to delightfully engage audiences with distinct and uplifting musical performances featuring creative presentations of classic pieces including: I Heard the Bells on Christmas day, Carol of the Bells, Sleigh ride, and more! Bethel United Methodist Church Hall, Lewes.
