Sussex reports budget surplus

The county has ended fiscal year 2012 with a $854,000 surplus.  Actual revenues for Sussex County were $1.4 million above projected revenue due to higher than expected revenue from realty transfer taxes.  Those increased revenues were somewhat offset by lower than expected income from investments.  $320,000 of the surplus will be used to fund four extra Delaware State Police troopers.  The rest will go into the general fund, and it will then be up to County Council to determine how to spend it.
