Arrest made in Wawa stabbing

Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a 21-year-old Wilmington woman in connection with the stabbing of a man at a Wilmington Wawa.

Detectives arrested Starlet Hewlett Thursday at a home located in Delaware City. But police are still looking for a second suspect.

Police say Hewlett was one of two suspects to go inside the bathroom of the Wawa located at 2030 Limestone Rd. with the intention of robbing the 27-year-old victim.

Authorities say once inside the bathroom, Hewlett is alleged to have stabbed the victim in the back during an altercation.

That’s when the second suspect, identified by police as Ryan West, allegedly picked up the victim’s wallet off the ground. Authorities say the victim chased the two suspects out of the Wawa, and then returned to the store, where he collapsed.

Police say the victim underwent emergency surgery at Christiana Hospital.

Anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of West is asked to call detectives at (302) 834-2630.
