Steve Lonegan and Cory Booker meet for final debate in South Jersey
The second and final U.S. Senate debate between Steve Lonegan and Cory Booker begins at 7 p.m. at Rowan University, in Glassboro. This
is the only major debate this year being held in South Jersey. Both Gubernatorial debates are near New York City and the first Senate debate on Oct 4 was in Trenton.
Tonight’s debate is hosted by our content partner NBC10 and will be moderated by weeknight anchor Jim Rosenfield. The debate will be broadcast live on NBC10 and streamed on NBC10.com at 7 p.m.
Democrat Cory Booker and Republican Steve Lonegan are running fto fill the remainder of the term (about one-year) of the late Senator Frank Lautenberg.
This contest will be decided in a special election on Weds, Oct. 16.
The debate comes as Democrats and Republicans in Washington wrangle over the partial government shutdown.
In their first debate, Booker took aim at Lonegan’s association with tea party groups, which he accused of “hijacking” the federal government over the new federal health care law.
Lonegan criticized Booker’s prolific use of social media saying, “New Jersey needs a leader, not a tweeter.”
NewsWorks Senior Reporter Dave Davies will be covering the debate and will have a full report Thursday on NewsWorks.org and WHYY-FM.
