Special election Thursday for New Castle County Council President

Voters in New Castle County go to the polls in a special election to elect a new President of County Council.

Council member Tim Sheldon is the Democratic candidate, while former state lawmaker Tom Kovach is the endorsed Republican candidate.  The special election was made necessary when former Council President Paul Clark became County Executive in November.  Clark replaced Chris Coons, who was elected to the U.S. Senate.  New Castle County Elections Director Anthony Albence says polling places are open Thursday from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Voters will need to bring identification.
