Senator Carper celebrates AmeriCorps week in Dover

U.S. Senator Tom Carper, D-Del, decided to lend a helping hand, along with members of AmeriCorps and students at Fairview Elementary School in Dover for a school clean up day.

Monday kicks off a week long celebration to honor AmeriCorps members in Delaware communities, as well as raise awareness about the important work many of them do. Prior to Senator Carper joining participants at the school clean-up, he addressed all of the volunteers by sharing a few words of encouragement.

In the state of Delaware, AmeriCorps members totaling 170, are very active in a number of services from education to health. In fact, members are recognized yearly for their commitments across the country.
