Rutgers University hires 3 cyber security firms
Rutgers University has hired three cyber security firms after having its computer networks hacked at least four times during the past school year.
NJ.com reports FishNet Security, Level 3 Communications and Imperva will be tasked with testing the university’s network for vulnerabilities.
University officials say the firms will also be responsible for other work that they cannot discuss for security reasons.
New Jersey’s flagship state university expects to spend between $2 million and $3 million on cyber security this year.
The money is a new expense that the university has stated was part of its reason for raising tuition and fees 2.3 percent for the 2015-2016 school year.
University officials say the school is in a better position than before.
The identity of the hacker or hackers remains unknown.
