Roxborough residents call for meeting on River Road overlay

The Residents of Shawmont Valley Association has called for an emergency meeting tonight with the Zoning Code Commission to discuss the removal of an overlay on River Road.

Mixed-use of the area between Shawmont Avenue and the county line has prohibited restaurants, other businesses and multiple dwellings from developing in the area to preserve the river environment. But as NewsWorks and PlanPhilly report, the overlay has been removed.

Residents called the emergency meeting, as the last day to submit comments on the draft is Friday, but ZCC Executive Director Eva Gladstein says while the overlay has still be removed, the area is still protected by the master plan, which prohibits the mixed-used development
