Report: Body found in waters off Wildwood Crest, N.J.

    The Press of Atlantic City is reporting that a body was pulled from the waters off Wildwood Crest, N.J this morning. The identity of the victim has not been released but a 24 year-old man was reported missing last night in the same area. See full report.

    Earlier the United States Coast Guard and the New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau suspended their search for the missing swimmer. 

    The missing man, identified as 24-year-old Christian Alfred, was swimming off the Taylor Avenue beach at about 7 p.m. when he, along with four others, began to struggle, Wildwood Beach Patrol Chief Steve Stocks tells The Press of Atlantic City. The other four members of the group were rescued, while Alfred remains missing.  

    The Wildwood Beach Patrol, Wildwood Fire Department, Wildwood Police Department, North Wildwood Beach Patrol, North Wildwood Fire Department, State Police Marine Bureau, and the United States Coast Guard participated in the search, which ended Saturday at 8:30 p.m, according to the report.

    Jersey Shore Hurricane News contributors said that search helicopters were scouring the ocean off Wildwood Saturday night and Sunday morning.

    One commenter said that the ocean was not calm in Wildwood Saturday afternoon. 

    “The water was strong today. Lifeguards had to get someone out of the water at 7th Street [Saturday afternoon],” said Lisa Adamo Zychowicz.

    The search was suspended at 10:00 a.m Sunday morning.
