Refinery rebirth

Hundreds lost their jobs when Valero shut down the Delaware City Refinery in 2009.  Now, with a new ownership team, the refinery is being prepped for restart with new restrictions on emissions and a new pledge to partner with the community.

Refinery manager Herman Seedorf talks about the delicate process of restarting the refinery, what the restart means for jobs, and how the refinery needs a ‘license from the public’ to operate.  He says, “Hopefully we can demonstrate that we know what we’re doing, and the community will value us as good partners.”
