Princeton University announces new provost

    Princeton University has appointed an economics and public affairs professor as the school’s new provost.

    President-elect Christopher Eisgruber on Wednesday announced the appointment of David Lee.Lee will serve as the Ivy League school’s chief academic and budgetary officer beginning July 1.

    Lee joined Princeton in 2007 as a member of the economics department and the school of public and international affairs. He has been director of the Industrial Relations Section since 2009.

    Before he returned to Princeton, Lee was a professor at Columbia University, Harvard and the University of California at Berkeley.

    He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and a doctorate from Princeton.

    Eisgruber will become president on July 1.
