Postal food drive set

Signs are up in many neighborhoods around New Castle County asking residents to leave non-perishable food items for their mail man on Saturday.

It’s the 20th year for the “Stamp out Hunger” campaign.  The National Association of Letter Carriers is pushing to equal the 70 million pounds of food it collected last year.  It is billed as the largest one day food drive in the nation.

The signs in many parts of New Castle County ask that the food items be put next to your mail box for the postal carrier to pick up.  Campbell Soup is coordinating the effort to get bags out to people for that food to be left out.
