Portion of Route 35 in Ocean closed following crash involving pedestrian

    Police have closed a portion of Route 35 in Ocean Township for an accident investigation following a serious crash involving a struck pedestrian Wednesday morning. 

    The pedestrian was struck at Route 35 and West Park Avenue during rush hour, according to the Ocean Township Police Department. 

    As of mid-morning Wednesday, an accident investigation shutters all Route 35 southbound lanes between West Park Avenue and Deal Road. 

    Traffic is being diverted through the area, according to the township police department.

    Google Traffic indicates that delays are heavy. 

    Shortly after 9:00 a.m., the township police department posted on Twitter that the southbound lanes may be closed for another three hours as the investigation continues. 

    No information regarding the struck pedestrian was immediately available.
