Police seek hit-and-run driver that killed pedestrian in Ocean County

    Police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian last night in Ocean County.

    The 34-year-old Toms River man was struck while crossing the Route 70 westbound lanes at the Route 9 overpass at 11:10 p.m., Toms River Police Chief Mitch A. Little said. 

    The motorist fled after the crash. The victim, who police have not yet identified, was then struck by two additional vehicles, which remained at the scene. 

    The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Little said police are searching for a cobalt blue Infiniti Q50 after a portion of the vehicle’s bumper was found at the scene. The model year is either a 2014, 2015, or 2016. The vehicle likely sustained heavy front damage. 

    Police say the investigation is developing and more information will be released when available.
