Plumber: Drug squad burst in, took tuition money

A plumber is testifying in a police corruption trial about the time he says undercover agents burst into his home and took thousands in tuition money he’d stashed in a safe.

Witness Theodore Carobine is one of scores of people who have filed civil lawsuits against the drug squad officers now on trial in a sweeping racketeering case.

Former squad member Jeffrey Walker has testified against six former colleagues for several days this week as part of a plea agreement.

Walker says he and others planted evidence against drug suspects, stole large sums of cash and assaulted people to get information.

Defense lawyers have tried to discredit Walker as a lying thief who acted alone.

The civil lawsuits are on hold until the trial concludes.
