Philadelphia design center in the running for national arts grant

Five Philadelphia organizations are among 127 centers across the country named as a finalist for funding from ArtPlace.

Organizations from 68 cities are hoping for a slice of $15 million in creative placemaking grants to develop projects that would transform communities and foster vibrancy through art.
Philadelphia’s Asian Arts Initiative; Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy; Community Design Collaborative; Mural Arts Program; and University City District all want a piece of the pie.

ArtPlace is a collaboration of nine foundations, eight federal agencies and six banks. The selected finalists were chosen from a pool of 2,000 applicants.
