Penn State’s director of ticketing operations is retiring after nearly 50 years working for the university.

The school said Thursday that Bud Meredith plans to leave the job at the end of the month.

During his tenure with the athletics staff, Beaver Stadium has been expanded seven times and crowds now regularly exceed 107,000 people. It held 46,000 people when Meredith started with the program.

He went to work for Penn State after earning a business degree in 1964.
