PECO says fewer than 30,000 people remain without power as of Friday afternoon after after overnight storms wiped out service for more than 100,000.

The damage from downed trees and lightning was concentrated in Chester and Bucks counties, says PECO spokesman Jackie Thompson.

“The vast majority of the customers will really be restored today and tomorrow,” she said. “We will have some customers in some of the hardest hit areas […] restored on Sunday.”

She said PECO had crews working around the clock to deal with outages.
