Payton withdraws from 179th District race after signature challenged

Pa. Rep. Tony Payton, D-Philadelphia, has withdrawn from the 179th District race, leaving just one candidate on the ballot.

Payton, who represents most of Frankford and part of Juniata and North Philadelphia, didn’t get enough valid signatures to support his candidacy, Philly Clout reports.

The lone remaining candidate is James Clay, son of the late Frankford Civic Association President Frances Clay.
