Paterno still highest paid at Penn State despite salary decrease

Even JoePa is a victim of the down economy, though he’s still faring much better than most.

An annual Right-to-Know report released by the institution showed the Penn State football coach’s salary is down, but he’s still the highest-paid member at the university. Paterno took in a cool $1.02 million in 2010. The year before, he raked in $1.1 million.

CEO of Penn State’s Hershey Medical Center Harold Paz, who came in at a close second, made $1.01 million last year, followed by School president Graham Spanier whose annual salary is reportedly $813,000 a year.

The figures in the report include salary, bonuses, retirement, other compensation and nontaxable benefits, according to the Associated Press.

JoePa may be making a little less money, but it’s unlikely he’ll be sent to the poorhouse anytime soon.
