Pa. warehouse blaze knocks out power to nearby homes

Residents in an eastern Pennsylvania city are being told to shelter in place as firefighters battle a massive warehouse fire that’s filling the sky with thick, black smoke and cutting off power to nearby residences.

Officials say the three-alarm blaze started around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at a 60,000-foot building across from the Moravian College campus on Mauch Chunk Road in Bethlehem.

    No injuries have been reported.

WFMZ-TV reports a utility initially cut power to about 2,500 homes at the request of firefighters. It’s been restored to all but about 375 homes.

Moravian College tells students roads west of campus are closed while firefighters fight the blaze.

The college says students parked on a nearby street won’t be able to move their cars while fire hoses are lying across the roadway.
