Pa. gov candidates reveal little in first debate

A recent national survey estimates Gov. Tom Corbett and Tom Wolf have spent more than $20 million airing more than 30,000 TV commercials in Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial campaign.

Monday’s debate in Hershey was the first face-to-face encounter between the GOP incumbent and his Democratic challenger, an opportunity for them to fill in the gaps in their conflicting plans for leading Pennsylvania for the next four years.

Instead, they largely ducked the moderator’s questions.

Corbett provided no specifics about how he would balance future state budgets without new taxes or the one-time revenues and accounting gimmickry that support more than $2 billion in spending in the current $29 billion budget.
