Collingswood adds Night Market to craft festival weekend
Collingwood’s annual Crafts and Fine Art Festival is getting some company this year with the addition of the first-ever Collingswood Night Market.
Here’s the schedule:
Crafts and Fine Arts Festival – Saturday, Aug 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Haddon Ave.
Night Market on Haddon Ave. – Saturday, Aug 19 from 5-9 p.m. Haddon Ave.
Crafts and Fine Arts Festival – Sunday, Aug 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Haddon Ave.
Now in its 12th year, the two-day Collingswood Crafts and Fine Art Festival features 150 juried artists and crafters showcasing their creations in tents along the borough’s main drag.
New this year will be live music performances on nearby Powell Ln. from a jazz quintet and saxophone quartet. Pet adoptions and family-friendly canvas painting sessions will also take place at the same location.
The festival features plenty of kid-friendly activities, including sand art, face painting, ceramic tile painting and henna tattoos. And jazz musicians “Reverend” Chris Marshall and the Ben Turner Trio will return to perform at the Millennium Clock (Irvin Ave.)..After the festival ends, Night Market gets into full swing with a variety of entertainment until 9 p.m..
The inaugural event is BYOC – bring your own chair – for the scheduled outdoor movie screening (The Sandlot) and lawn chair concerts, Rabbit Stampede (Celtic folk) and Christopher Davis-Shannon Quartet (jazz).
There will also be sidewalk sales from local merchants, restaurant specials, free family yoga and cycle spinning classes, family games, plus an Atari party.
