On National Dog Day, a shore sunset with a story

It wasn’t just an ordinary sunset in Lavallette.

Being National Dog Day, for dog lovers, it was one to share with best friends of a four-legged variety.

On Jersey Shore Hurricane News, the Frothylip crew shared this photo featuring their best friend, Poncho, who Chris Kelly rescued from Tijuana, Mexico when he stopped to purchase a poncho from a roadside vendor.

Dana Palmieri explains: “Poncho was just three to four weeks old and very sickly. Chris asked the man if he could buy the puppy. The man sold him the puppy and the poncho. He snuck the newly named ‘Poncho’ into San Diego and got him nursed back to health.”

When Chris, an Ocean City, NJ native, went on a surf trip to Bali, Poncho came out to the East Coast to stay with Palmieri, who said it was perfect timing because her dog, Josh, was dying.

“I’ve never had a friend like Chris who was so unselfish, sharing his best friend with me because my best friend went to heaven.”
