Off-duty officer fatally struck in Philadelphia

Investigators say an off-duty Philadelphia police officer fatally struck while riding his bicycle may have been targeted by a motorist following an argument.

Police say the officer was struck late last night in the city’s East Mount Airy neighborhood.

The officer was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.

Authorities say the driver left the scene but the car stopped nearby. Investigators tell NBC 10 they believe the driver knew the officer and intentionally targeted him after some kind of dispute.
