NWS: Plan for minor tidal flooding Tuesday morning
Minor tidal flooding is likely during the Tuesday morning high tide cycle.
A Coastal Flood Advisory will go into effect for the entire New Jersey coastline between 5 a.m. and noon Tuesday, according to a National Weather Service bulletin.
The bulletin advises that minor tidal flooding is likely during the Tuesday morning high tide cycle.
The forecasted flooding is due to a strengthening northeast wind Monday night piling water up along the coastline and elevated astronomical tides due to Wednesday’s supermoon.
High tide will occur between 6 and 7 a.m. along oceanfront and up to two hours later in tidal waterways and back bays.
The surge will be about a foot above the astronomical tide, and possibly slightly higher in southern areas, the advisory states.
Localized roadway flooding is likely, causing some road closures. Motorists should not drive through flooded areas.
