Nutter, Kenney reunited at City Hall
ListenWhen the current mayor of Philadelphia met with his likely successor Thursday morning, both showed they have a sense of humor.
Mayor Michael Nutter said he can accept Democratic mayoral nominee Jim Kenney being critical of his administration.
“I mean I was absolutely known to be a major pain in the ass to the two mayors I worked under in City Council,” Nutter said.
While appearing with Nutter, former City Councilman Kenney showed restraint … as he has during the whole campaign.
“Sometimes I was inartful in my expression to him,” Kenney said of his days battling Nutter. “The things I have learned during this campaign is that discipline prevails, and the more disciplined you are as a candidate the more successful you are The more disciplined you are going to be as a mayor, the more successful you are going to be. He was very disciplined when I was being a pain.”
Nutter didn’t choose sides in the primary, but has now endorsed Kenney to succeed him.
