Nutter headed to China on trade mission
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter won’t be holding any press conferences this week. He won’t be cutting any ribbons or getting tough on crime.
Because he’ll be in China on a trade mission. He’s attending an urban sustainability conference in his role as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and checking out ways to strengthen Philly’s business relationship with Chinese cities.
Stops include Philly’s Sister City, Tianjin, and a meeting with Air China about how to get non-stop flights between Philly and Beijing. Nutter’s not going alone. Some of his companions include the Philadelphia Orchestra, Drexel University, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Philadelphia International Airport. The group will return late next week.
