Rather than paying money to leave your car at the airport, what if you could make money renting it to an inbound traveler? That’s the premise of FlightCar, a new service launching at the Philadelphia Airport this Thanksgiving. It means new competition for the big car rental companies Avis and Hertz, so don’t be surprised if this turns into the next political scuffle over the “sharing economy” but at least for now, the public affairs department at Philly International had only supportive remarks.
