N.J. Hall of Fame announces new inductees

A late actor best known for portraying a New Jersey mobster and a former governor remembered for raising taxes are among the newest members of New Jersey’s Hall of Fame.

James Gandolfini of “The Sopranos”, former Gov. James Florio, basketball’s Patrick Ewing and NBC news anchor Brian Williams were among the 12 selected by voters out of 50 nominees who have ties to New Jersey.

Jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, The Shirelles, author Dorothy Parker and chef Alice Waters are also among the class of 2014.

Since 2008, 80 people with ties to New Jersey have been inducted into the web-based hall. They include Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Toni Morrison, Buzz Aldrin and Yogi Berra.
