Newark Police make another arrest after UD riot

Newark police have arrested one of two suspects identified in surveillance photos showing the disorderly crowd that ran through Newark on Monday.

University of Delaware student, John Marine, 18, turned himself in to Newark Police after video images of a Ford Mustang being damaged were released. Marine, a resident of Newark, now faces a number of charges including criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Earlier this week, Newark Police were trying to identify two young men seen climbing on cars. Video of the riot that was posted on YouTube shows a crowd of party-goers banging on cars and disrupting traffic in downtown Newark. As a result, two University of Delaware students who hosted the party on S. College Ave. were immediately arrested.

In a Facebook post, Newark police urged the men to turn themselves in. “If you are in this picture, you can save yourself the mental anxiety of waiting to be arrested,” police wrote.
