Newark PNC Bank robbed

The Newark Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a bank robbery suspect.

According to authorities, the PNC Bank at 230 E. Main St. in the Newark Shopping Center was robbed Monday night by a suspect threatening to detonate an explosive device.

Police say the suspect called the bank and demanded that an undisclosed amount of cash be placed outside the bank. The suspect then approached by foot, removed the money and left the area on foot.

Authorities say no explosive device was located.

The suspect was last seen wearing khaki pants, a light colored hooded sweatshirt and a dark colored jacket.

PNC Bank is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
